Dry shampoos are miracle hair workers! If you don’t already use one, you are missing out! Whether you want to know which dry shampoo to try out first or are looking for a new recommendation, I’m sharing all about my current favorite dry shampoos in today’s Friday Favorites!
Want to know my dirty little secret?
I wash my hair about once or twice a week. That might seem crazy to some, but when your hair is as long as mine is and then on top of that it seems to be possessed by little hair demons every time it gets wet, you wouldn’t want to wash your hair constantly either. To keep my hair’s grease at bay and to revive its life between washes, I swear by dry shampoos. Dry shampoo is amazing! But not all dry shampoos are created equal. I’ve gone through a good variety of brands (drugstore and expensive) as well as types (aerosol and straight up pour-on-the-powder), but I have discovered that having a few different kinds on hand are nice because (for me) each one of these provides different but useful benefits. So read on to see why these are my current favorites and how I choose which dry shampoo to use!
Batiste Hint of Color Dry Shampoo. I had always heard rave reviews about Batiste, so when I saw that my local TJMaxx was selling them I snatched up this bottle. Because it delivers a light tint of blonde to my hair, I use this dry shampoo when my hair starts to look like I am going for an “ombre” look when really I just haven’t made it to the salon for my root touch up 😉 It comes in other colors as well as a variety of scents that are not tinted, so there is an option that anyone can use and love.
Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo. I recently purchased this based on a recommendation from a popular hair tutorial YouTube channel I subscribe to. I have only tried it a couple times, but it is a stark contrast from the ones I use on an almost daily basis. This dry shampoo almost feels like you’re spraying a powdery hairspray into your hair. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing in my opinion, but because of that I limit the use of this to when I’m styling an up-do or braiding my hair and I want a little extra hold with a little less grease.
Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo. This is my current daily go-to dry shampoo. I’ve tried the keratin infused one, but it wasn’t as effective for me, so I stick with this basic one. I use this as I’m getting ready for the day, and I’ll also spray it into my hair at night before I put my hair into a top knot before bed. I’ve found that with this dry shampoo that it’s a good grease prevention tool, so I spray some into my two day old hair to make day three hair start out less greasy than normal. It will still work if you’re trying to de-greasify day four or five hair, but you’ll need to use a lot more of it (in my experience)…but hey, at less than $3 a bottle, that’s not an expensive habit to maintain and I keep going back to this stuff 🙂
I hope this helps you discover a new dry shampoo that will work for you! If you have any dry shampoo recommendations I should try, let me know in the comments!
Have a fabulous weekend!
