Mixing metallics may be a fashion faux pas, but I embraced the style challenge and kicked off 2016 with this metallic dress. I love the inspiration of silver and gold together, and this look is perfect for any party or night out!
dress (not maternity!)| leather jacket (faux leather and less expensive version here) | cross body bag found at TJMaxx, but similar here | heels (old, similar style here) | necklace | bracelets are old, but similar ones here and here
Usually when I have the chance to get dressed up and go out (which with two kids and one on the way is not as often as I would like, ha!) I love to go big and bold and that typically entails a bright pop of color. When I found this metallic dress at Nordstrom Rack though I loved how it had just enough sparkle to wear on a random night out and also work great as a holiday/New Year’s Eve dress.
This dress makes mixing metallics in one outfit really easy because it already beautifully combines silver and gold! Because this dress has a good mix of gray, gold, and silver in it, I just stuck with those colors with the accessories I wore and topped it off with my black leather jacket and black heels. I bought this leather jacket during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and to me it was worth the splurge. A good leather jacket in my mind is a great investment because it is so versatile and can coordinate well with a lot of different outfits, and this one does not disappoint! I bought these black heels from Target forever ago based on the fact that they have little studs along the bottoms, and I just love little details like that.
Hope 2016 has started off well for you! Thanks for reading!
